How will you remember the Great Three Days this year?
Lent continues and we will reach the inevitable reality of Good Friday followed by the joy of Easter Sunday. The promise is given and kept. And this is one of the great truths of our lives. The real promise of Jesus crucified and risen from the dead, renews us daily in the water of our baptism.
How will you remember the Great Three Days this year? Will you join us in the mystery, commandment and betrayal of Maundy Thursday? Will you walk with us together with Jesus to Golgotha and witness the saving of the whole world on Good Friday? Will you celebrate with Christians around the globe the glorious Empty Tomb and the blessing of family and friends on Easter? Should the answer be yes, you are welcome to join us, pray with us, endure with us together, and then finally celebrate the promise of Jesus fulfilled together in community. If you will not be joining us, or can’t, please know that we are praying for you and you are loved.
I have spoken a lot this year of our confirmation students. They have all worked so hard! Their journey to adulthood in the eyes of the church is quickly approaching. Pray for them during these closing weeks as they prepare to have the next chapter of their lives opened for them by Jesus. I have found that we never stop learning. We never really finish anything. We just go from one state of being to another. We all are entering new days and new ways of being church together, that is the nature of the Gospel.
So much is happening, and the planning is well underway for the rest of the spring and summer, Rogation Days, Confirmation, VBS, joint services, picnics, and the chicken BBQ, but that will wait for upcoming Pastors Ponderings. Suffice it to say I am grateful to you all. I am so proud to be your pastor.
Peace,
Pastor Bob
